My thoughts on diversity and inclusion.
Diversity is accepting the presence of people different than you.
Inclusion is embracing their participation.
While related and at times complementary, they are by no means the same.
Companies can prove their commitment to, and progress on, diversity with facts and figures and charts and targets.
Inclusion is something that is felt, … or not. The only way to know if you’re making progress on inclusion is for the diverse group of people to tell you.
